Picking The Right VPS Host:
I originally started with VPS Land because of their lower prices and double up ram feature. Wow!! iIs their marketing ever deceiving. I figured with a 2048MB RAM VPS server I could easily run 30+ Metatrader platforms with each instance usually only consuming 5,000 to 12,000 K of memory. What a rude awakening that was! Not only was the remote desktop connection laggy with nothing running, I was only able to run at most 5 Metatrader 4 platforms that BARELY ran. They are either lying about their specs, or extremely OVER CROWDED. Regardless, I didn’t even last a month with VPS Land before cancelling my subscription.
I moved on to Ultra Hosting where I have a buddy working. He hooked me up with a 512MB VPS to test out, and what a difference. With just 512mb of memory, I could still run 12-15 Metatrader 4 platforms, and surf the net on it no problem. I moved up to the 1028mb server, and currently have 18 Metatrader platforms running with room for 15+ more. Below is a screenshot from my 1024mb server.

Now once you have a VPS setup, and can remote connect to it, your MT4 setup on the vps and connected to your forex account, you will want to get your expert advisors on to the VPS. Yes, after you install the first instance, load the installer again but this time point it to install to a different directory. Voila!

admin this article is quite insightful but could you do a similar one on metatrader 4 brokers that are recommended for traders wanting to run robots on their accounts. cos I’m new to this and hear a lot of bad talk about brokers who ‘work against’ traders with robots…
also can you do a similar article and ranking for robots best suited for mini accounts (like 3 digit accounts)…

Thanks for this amazing review. It was a realy eye opener! I went with Ultrahosting a few weeks ago thanks to you and haven’t had a single issue. VPS has been rock solid and I have 5 MT4 platforms running with no performance issues.

If you are running just 2 ea’s on maybe 8 charts. 1 broker. Would you need more than 1 mt4 with this? Can’t they just all run on one? unfamiliar with vps.

If its all on one account then yes you could just install 1 MT4 terminal and run it all from there.

Hi admin,
Did you notice this SLA from Ultrahosting ? Does it affect your trading using any EA? Is the EA remember where it left off when re-launched again (and not making new trades, but continuing where it left off) ??
All other VPS I know had never do this.
Server Patching and Updating
All VPS servers will be rebooted/patched/updated on a weekly basis. This shall be done on Sunday mornings between 3:00 and 4:00 EST.

Hi, i bought a w-10 package – VPS server. When i connect to VPS; i can not open the mailboxes that in mt4 at the VPS. SO i can not see the demo account number and pass… I said to UltraHosting customer Service but they can not solve my issue…

After you install the first instance of metatrader 4 from lets say Alpari UK. Run the install again, but this time change the directory it gets install to.
For Example:
C:\Program Files\Metatrader 4 Alpari UK\
C:\Program Files\Metatrader 4 Alpari UK 2\
